F.lux is a free app for Mac, Windows, and Linux computers that automatically adjust your computer screen to look like the room you’re in, all the time. When the sun sets, it makes your computer look like your indoor lights. In the morning, it makes things look like sunlight again. If you want to see true color, you can disable this F.lux app for some time to give you the default brightness. f.lux is free to download and use, so you can try it out for yourself if you’re curious.
PangoBright is a free windows screen dimmer for setting the brightness of your main screen as well as external monitors. You can choose which screens will be set to the selected brightness level. If you have multiple monitors connected, the pop-up menu will list each monitor, and you can indicate which monitor or monitors to affect.

When this OS X app kicks in, it will dim your computer screen and display how long a break you should be taking. If you want something to force you to take a break at regular intervals, this is awesome. A full-screen, semi-transparent window appears at the intervals you specify.
